ATTIC 003_The Mother Sculpture

ATTIC 003_The Mother Sculpture

A slender carved wooden figure of a mother holding a child. From a distance, the elongated silhouette reads almost abstractly; up close, the smaller figure emerges from the carving.

CURATOR’S NOTE
The silhouette caught my attention first. Long, narrow and almost impossibly delicate, it immediately brought Giacometti to mind. Then I noticed the child carved into the figure and it felt even more special and strong, a mother.
