ATTIC 006_The Mercury Tray

ATTIC 006_The Mercury Tray

A rectangular silver-plated serving tray by WMF-Ikora with a stepped, scalloped border and a surface that has collected decades of scratches, patina, and darkened marks.

Rather than hiding its history, the worn silver surface catches light differently everywhere you look.

CURATOR’S NOTE
I didn’t choose this one despite the scratches. I chose it because of them. Light moves across the worn silver like liquid metal, which made Mercury inevitable.
